A Homage To Absence And To Beginnings And Endings As Well (For They Are Important Too)

She is a radiant comet, a fire burning bright whose passing quotes the sky above. Dizzying in her course; she mesmerizes me with her speed and grace as she dances, the protagonist supported—as was just—by the stars around her. She does not wane but rather waxes—a breathtaking sight.

I am beneath her. Helpless to do anything except watch on from afar. On her perch on the sky, I am probably a sorry thing, pathetic in spirit and insignifcant in size and yet there exists no other person who knows well how special she is save I. For she once gave me her boon, sharing her joy with me and I was content and then shattered when I lost her three years gone. Yet she is a part of me still and her memory will remain five (cinq in the French she so loved) years more if not forever.

Only from afar may I now look upon her visage. Only from afar, hungrily—like a vulture, taking what little remains from leftover memories. It’s never enough and I doubt that it will ever and I miss her so but seeking her is to attempt a maze with no exit—an impossible quest. The thought of having her again? Nothing but a joke!

But the memory of her strength blesses me. For no matter how grave the wound, she’s a balm that calms and soothes. For there’s no greater joy than hers nor can be found any greater love. For she always cares though grave harm may be done to her. No matter how unworthy you may be, she’ll put on no mask of hate and though her memory—the way she looked and the words she spoke—may turn to dust, the greatness of her heart shall always penetrate the haze and thus shall she be remembered—her memory, by my heart, quartered and treasured—for as long as apathy and age does not tax me.

I clung firmly to you, afraid of any world you had no part in. Nothing is worst than loss; for an individual is conscious of what is missing. I was quick to drop all will and vigor for nothing was worth it without you as my light and luck. I was not lazy; in sloth, possibility is still intact but no such thing laid in wait within my soul. How could I go on? But thinking now, all I did was tax you unjustly and I am sorry.

Lost I am without you, love,
Unbroken spirit, childlike, innocent, unlike I,
Colorful woman, lively, a former Catholic,
In protest for sparrows, the bible you dropped, strange guru,
Energetic you were, silly, loved by all, a special girl.
This took me a long time to make. Five days to be exact. I did something different in this poem. Try to see if you can find them. :P

Hint: The title is a clue.
